Travel Services - Pannonhalma Castle Walking

Pannonhalma Arch Abbey now officially belongs to the world treasures. Pannonhalma village has a very long history of more than 1000 years. In 996 Geza Prince of Hungary settled the Benedictine monks from bohemia on the Sacred Hill of Pannonia. The monastery undertook the task of propagating Christianity and European culture.

English guided tours are available every day at 11.20, 13.20 and 15.20. Tours last for 1.5 hours.
Cost is approximately: 2400 - 3000 HUF that is approximately £ 7.
No need to book it in advance. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.

Vine tasting is also available at Arch Abbey. No need to book it in advance just turn up and ask for it. Cost: More vines you taste, more you pay. If you want to buy a very good quality award winning bottle of vine in Hungary from a local farmer then prices start from 3000 HUF ( £ 7 approx.)
Vine tasting only is also available in the heart of Gyor city if you don't have time for a tour.

Trains to Arch Abbey is running in every 2-3 hours and a return ticket is approximately 1000 HUF ( £ 2.6 approx.). Trains drop you at the bottom of the village so you will need to climb the big hill to reach the Abbey - recommended for good walkers only as it could take and hour to walk up there.

Buses are from Monday to Sunday straight to the Abbey leaving at 8.00, 10.15, 12.00 and 16.50 and this is approximately 900 HUF ( £ 2.40 approx.) The bus ride takes about 30 minutes. Buses drop you and pick you right there at the Abbey.
